Help with adding additional fuse box for Ignition, starter and other accessories

My current setup is hotwired directly to a switch for Ignition and a button for the starter. I want to have a fuse box that I can put in between power and these switches to avoid a fire. Will be used for radio, speakers, and electric fan in the future. So power would have to come from the fuse box when the ignition is on? At least for the wire and speakers but I could use the factory box for those.

What I've got so far is I want power from somewhere to a 30amp relay (don't really know what that's for) then to the new fuse box.

I have hei so that's why I hooked it up to a switch because I don't know where power comes from IGN on at the factory box. I also don't know how to wire up the starter to factory.

Factory wiring seems to be main battery cable to starter than to the horn relay which is always hot and then to the fuse box. Shouldn't the starter be fused? All of that being hot all the time seems weird to me.

There are no and should not be any fuses in start circuit. The IGN terminal in the fuse box is protected by an adjacent fuse and is powered through the ignition switch, another switch is redundant. The radio is already fuse protected through the stock wiring and speakers are powered internally through the radio. The electric fans need to be a separate circuit and powered through relays triggered by temp sensors. Inline fuse/s would work fine for this.

Before tackling any electrical projects you need to first understand how these car systems work.

Has someone previously gutted the factory wiring harness? If so, you would be time and money ahead either buying a reproduction harness, or a aftermarket replacement from a vendor like American Autowire, or Painless.

if your looking for a weather resistant fuse panel for underhood accessories, this is a good option.

if you need an accessory panel for under the dash, this is a good option.

it's not gutted but their seems to be alot of open circuits on the interior. Gauge lights don't work other than gen and high beam light. And interior lights don't seem to work.
I removed the harness today that has the points wiring with the resistance wire and the big purple wire because they weren't hooked up and didn't need to be and then a harness attached to that what seems to be smog stuffIf I can hook the hei and starter to the key through the fuse box I'll just do that. Does anyone have a wiring diagram? 72 "s" model non a/c
pic is of what I think is unneeded smog stuff

I just bought on marketplace the 30 amp relays that have the fuse built right in it.

The wiring diagram helped alot thanks. The only thing i need help with now is where the purple solenoid wire comes out of back of the fuse box at the fire wall because I took it out and didn't take a picture. Can I just splice or solder the purple wires at the neutral safety switch to bypass the switch? I won't be needing the switch

Look for the purple wire on the cabin side of the connector and place it back in the corresponding hole on the engine side. Why do you not need the neutral safety switch? Yes, soldering or splicing the 2 purple wires will bypass the switch. Just remember by doing that, the car will start in gear.
