HELLA halogen sealed beams on 1964 olds?

I have 4 Hella sealed beams, Vintage, but new in boxes. They are the right size for my 1964 Vista (t-3). Can i use them without melting any wire connectors or wiring? The original factory wires sure look thin.

I would install relays to carry the load. The lights go completely off when the circuit breaker cycles. It's not much fun.

I wouldn’t hesitate to use them. Regardless of brand used, I’m a proponent of running incandescent lights via relays and heavier wire, which uses the OE wiring only as a low power trigger for the relays. If you don’t want to do relay mod, run em as is, shouldn’t be a problem.

As a sealed beam light they will work fine. The Hella lights that use a replaceable H4 bulb would be a problem and would need a relay.

Your vintage Hellas don't use any more current than the headlights your car was born with. Halogens generate more light with the same current.

And I'm adding a third recommendation for using relays which typically let the headlights give double the light output.

Let us know if you want to take that additional step. There are many of us on here who can walk you through the process.

Yeah, you don't even have to cut the factory harness. I made one out of 14ga with new ground lugs, from the relays to the bulbs, with ceramic plugs, and use 2 male spades to plug into one of the factory sockets to trip the relays.
