Will an hei distributor clear an oai system. What about the vacuum advance clearing the firewall. I purchased a new dist and wires but the dist is quiet a not bigger than stock. This for a 70 442 w30.

The vacuum advance will clear the firewall, however you may have issues with the OAI air cleaner clearance.

Are you just wanting to do away with points? If so install a points replacement setup like Pertronix and use your original distributor.

You have to modify the back of the air cleaner base to make it work together. That or just put a Pertronix pickup in the stock distributor and not have to modify the base. I have a non OAI base that is modified for this but it has the small snorkel on it. I would not modify the stock OAI base because it is worth to much money.
