Hazard warning switch

Hazard warning switch
'75 Cutlass Salon, non-tilt steering wheel. The only switches/arms I have on the column are the turn signal stalk and the hazard switch. My problem is the hazard switch is flaky I believe. The turn signals work great, but the hazards will randomly blink the left or the right only, sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly unless I am physically pushing the switch in with my pinky, and even then I have to wiggle it around a little to get it working right. If I stop applying force, they start acting funky. I have replaced the flasher module and external hazard "button" but I think it's what's inside the steering column that's the problem.
I'm thinking I need to replace the whole turn signal switch assembly i.e. this:

or this:

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Also, it looks like I am going to have to remove the steering wheel to get at this, is that correct? Will I need a special tool for this--or more specifically, can I make do with out the tool? I'm in Japan so I can't pop down to autozone and rent a tool. Thanks!

Sounds like the return springs are not bringing the switch fully and reliably back to center.
Easiest thing is probably just to replace the switch.
You DO have to pull the steering wheel to get to the switch.
Why not just order a steering wheel puller when you order the switch?
Steering Wheel Puller
Steering Wheel Puller with a fancy case (Japanese will love it)
The job will be easier with a lock plate compressor (I'm pretty sure the '75 has the spring-loaded plate), but I prefer to save my $20 and just fiddle with 2 screwdrivers.

Great, thanks. So either of the switches I linked will work for my specific application? The reason I ask is I think Ive heard people talking about different options of dimmers on the column and tilt steering and what not.

Okay, so I'm reading a little more in detail in the descriptions of these switches on the autozone website, and it appears one is for "cornering light equipped" cars, and the other isn't. What are these cornering lights they are describing? I don't think I have any bright lights that light up when I hit the turn signal lever if that's what it's talking about (I don't think.)
