Front Speaker Replacement

I found several threads on replacing the front speaker but none answered some questions I have. Need to replace the front speaker. I am not after a high tech sound system. Car has the stock am radio and an 8 track player that I am not changing.

Looking at options I am seeing ~$60 retro replacements that have 4 connections on back and a cheap $18 option on on amazon with the same stock 2 connections. Assume the amazon one is cheap and wont last I would like to get something that will last. If get one of the speakers with 4 connectors do I just use two of the connectors? If I use just one side does that negate the whole point of a better speaker? Looking for a option that is close to the original.

Using stock am radio and under dash 8 track you must find speakers that are 8-10 ohm resistance. Most modern speakers are 4 ohm and are likely to damage your electronics. If the speaker you describe is rated at 8-10 ohms then you should be okay. It does seem that the speaker you are considering is for stereo applications, and you are running monaural units.

I purchased a factory rear speaker from this business. The owner passed recently, but I think the speaker business is still operating.

Good Luck with your search.

If that speaker with 4 terminals is a dual speaker, they are likely 4 Ohms each. If so, you can run the two in series to have 8 Ohms, which should work with the factory radio.
