Dome light fixed

My dome light has been on constantly in my 69 442 for years. I had resorted to just pulling the bulb. Well, I finally decided to get serious about fixing it.
Since my car has the light package that turned on and off properly with the door switches, I assumed those worked fine...bad assumption. After pulling headlight switch to test that, pulling rear seats and carpet looking for the ground short it dawned on me that the door switches operated the dome switch and the extra interior lights separately, or both would be on all the time due to the grounding. Sure enough, first pin switch I pull the dome wire is off and grounding on the body causing the Dome light to stay on constantly. Plug it in and bingo- fixed! Felt silly after all that wasted work disassembling everything and in the end it took 5 min.

And THAT is the distillation of the vast majority of automotive repairs .

Glad you got it working again. The repair is simple the time it takes to find it is usually another story!
