Dim taillight

Members, I have a 67 Delmont 88 with a dim passenger side tail light. When I remove the socket assembly and go straight to the battery (pos/neg), it's ultra bright, then back to the tail light, not as bright (aka dim).

Thoughts on best approach to trace this....could it be at the tie in on the drivers side or more upfront.

I ordered new sockets (just in case).

Thank you!

Are the blinkers and brake light dim also. It may be a ground issue.

The socket needs to be plugged into the housing to be grounded. If it isn't, you are backfeeding the turn signal circuit and lighting up both filaments, which is why it's much brighter that way. At a minimum, if you pull the socket out of the housing, you need to run a jumper wire from one of the metal fingers on the socket to a good ground before trying the light.

Yes. Does the ground tie into the drivers side "assembly"
