I'm guessing that the door switch is now NFG after the door was slammed.

Is this the same car that the fuse blew randomly when the cig lighter was connected?
Did you disconnect or fix the lighter?

There has to be a bare wire somewhere in that circuit that is grounding out. You have to isolate the circuit and track down the bare wire that is grounding out things . A lighted circuit tester will help.
Let us know how you make out.

A door jamb switch wouldn't cause a fuse to blow even if it was FUBAR'd.

It's just a ground switch (white wire) that completes the circuit in most GM cars.
The 12V live is fed directly to the dome light and other interior lights.

I can't guarantee that's your problem unless I saw a schematic.
You need a schematic to start tracing the wires for that circuit that's blowing.

SORRY Dude! I HATE electrical SNAFU's like this; wish I had a helpful answer -- good luck! Do you have the Service Manual for yours?! (The books came in a SERIES those years and many were thick as the damn Chicago Yellow Pages BUT I THINK The Electrical diagrams were in a thinner book...)

Got any pics of your '83 Park Ave? Those are NICE rides! Classy!

Note to self: Do not slam car doors or you will infest your car with electrical gremlins.....

Are there any hack jobs done to the wiring from a previous owner? Alarms, radios, CBs, etc? These are often places where poor quality splices are made using electrical tape or wirenuts that eventually fall off.

Check the trunk light and its wiring to make sure it did not get caught in the hinge or something.

After removing my entire dash I am almost certain its a fuse box issue I unplugged all the lights in the car and it still blows fuses there is a box that kinda looks like a relay that's has a plug to connect the fuse box to the lights
