Convertible top relay

I have a 1967 442 convertible. Im having problems with the convertible top switch. It only works going up, nothing when you try to lower the top. I replaced the old switch with a new switch and same problem. Is there a relay somewhere on the car that may be the problem? I looked and cannot find one. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Nope. Just the switch, the wires, the motor, and the circuit breaker.

You need to go through the system piece by piece to find the offending part.

I'd start by hotwiring the "down" side of the motor, to see wether the problem is in the wiring or the motor.

I had a similar problem with my switch. I took the original switch apart by carefully bending the tabs on the case and rebent the spring inside so it made more tension on the rocker switch and good contact inside. Then reassembled it and it has worked for two years. Not sure if this is your problem but somehow you're not getting power to the top motor.

The switch is mounted to the back of the dash with two screws. If you have A\C, it might be easier to pop out the glove box liner. The switch will be readily accessible then.
