Compressor won't disengage
Hey guys,
This is my first post and I have been reading up a lot on the vast information in here
.
I recently bought a '79 Delta 88 Royale. One of the things I have noticed is the A/C compressor not disengaging no matter what I do. When I set it to "off", the vents from the black box under the dash in the middle (not sure what it's called sorry) still blow cold air and I can see the clutch spinning on the compressor. I have also tried switching it to "vent" and it does the exact same thing. I have read that in the 70s, some Oldsmobiles have what's called a hold-in relay but I'm not sure that applies to my case. Now of course disconnecting the electrical connector from the compressor itself fully disengages it, but I am not sure why it would still engage when it's set to off or any mode really. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
