coil install

I have installed a Pertronics II ignition in my distributor and getting ready to install the Flame thrower II coil. I know I have a resistance wire that I was going to replace but I am unsure about the other wires going to the original coil. 2 to the pos and 2 to the neg. not including the ones to the distibutor.
What are these for? Do I just replace the resistance wire and hook up the distributor?

Usually the two wires are actually just one-in-the same of a series circuit. At least that is what I have experienced. So the positive terminal is for the +12 volts (resistance wire and perhaps a terminal block attachment), the negative wires go to the points and then the other one MIGHT be to the tachometer if the car has one. To answer you last question, I would leave those wires and hook up your resistance wire and you should be good to go. The only way to be sure would be to trace those wires to their destination, and that might be difficult.
