Can Anyone Tell What Belongs in These Cutouts?

Can anyone tell me what belongs in the 2 cutouts near the power top switch on my 68 Cutlass S convertible? The car is highly optioned, so I figure it's likely for switches or something. The cutouts look factory cut.

Thank You,
Tom

The long one could be for a map light.

That's a good possibility. Maybe the small hole is for the map light switch. I'm sure that's a real easy option to find (sarcasm). I was hoping it would be something easy. It may be easier to find another dash without the holes.

Thanks,
Tom

The attached photo shows the map light on the dash of my '73 Custom Cruiser. I know it's not a '68 Cutlass, but the shape is the same, and that's what made me think of it. The switch for the light is actually with the light and not in a separate cutout. I would guess that, if that long opening in your car is for a map light, it would be the same, and the other cutout could just be for a courtesy light. There are courtesy lights on either side of the map light in my photo. They go on when the headlight switch is pulled out.

The large hole is for the map light. The square hole is for the power antenna switch, which looks just like your power top switch. I take it this is not the original dash for your car.

Thanks guys. The car was this way when I bought it. Judging by the options the car has, I would bet the dash is original. The car has an aftermarket power rear antenna. It is likely a replacement for an original power antenna and was hooked up directly to the aftermarket radio.

How difficult do you think it will be to find a map light and a power antenna switch??

Thank You,
Tom

You'll have to go to China for the light. Maybe have to dig up a grave.

Gotta find someone with '68 Cutlass parts or someone parting one out. Fusick has lots of Cutlass parts and switches in their catalog, but I didn't see either of these.

The map lights come up on ebay some times. The power antenna switch will be more difficult and pricey, in all likelihood.
