Hi everyone I notice on my 74 CS the heater works on low to high,
But when I but the A/C on it blows high no matter where the switch is on low or high That's not right any ideas why ,Plus how hard is it to replace front speakers on a 74 and can I get the same size
Thanks all

How is your heater control supposed to work?

I would check the Owner's Manual to see.

Some years/models have a "Max A/C" setting that runs the fan on High, and then step down to normal speeds at the regular A/C setting, and if yours if keeping to high on both, you could have something out of alignment inside your selector switch.

Steve, you should be able to get speakers for your car at any quality audio shop or even Wal Mart. Here is a good on-line supplier:

3-1/2" speakers. Take the plastic speaker cover off for access and be careful as the part is known to break.

MAX A/C will put blower speed on high and set the HVAC doors to recirc so you're simply recirculating already cooled air at high velocity. A/C position should allow all blower speeds. Possibility yer control head lever is a little off, or the high blower relay may be sticking.

Most of the 3 1/2 speakers have too big of a magnet to fit in the tight factory supplied space. It is not as easy as other have mentioned to get speakers that will work. I have seen people clearance the ductwork in the dash to get a little more space for the magnet to fit and I have ground off the bottom side of my speaker cover to gain a little more space so the cover sits flush. The smallest speakers I could find a few years ago were Blaupunkt and they were still larger than the space available. When I replaced my dash with a better condition piece I left the front speakers out for the time being as my speaker cover is mint condition and I can't bring myself to grind on a perfect cover.

I am concerned about this as well. I recently bought these speakers:

They didn't fit under the factory speaker grilles. I bought aftermarket grilles and got them to work. I hope I don't run out of room when I reinstall the A/C controls on the driver's side.

I found these listed and they just may work in the tight dash confines.

On your speakers make sure you match the impedance rating to your radio. 4 ohm speakers will not work.

They will on mine, I have a vintage Alpine in place of the factory 8 track currently.
When I run the factory radio I have used these guys in Dallas to recone my original speakers with outstanding results.
