Battery Relocation - 1967 442

Hi guys -

I'm going to relocate my battery to the trunk on my 67 442. I'd like to have more room to install some relays up front. TBH I could probably squeeze it all in up there, but I'd prefer to have the battery in the back if at all possible. I know there are kits out there to do this, but one question: it appears the kits have one really long positive cable and one rather short negative cable. I get that the negative should go to some close frame connection for ground, but how does the positive run? Does it run beneath the floor board (outside) or does it run through the firewall and interior (inside)? Anyone have pictures how that would be proper for the 67?

Thanks in advance!

The negative needs to be tied to the frame, not close to it. The positive needs to run a long the frame to the front. You can set up your relay panel in the old battery location.

The positive cable follows almost the exact path that the brake line runs along the inside of the DS frame. I believe Curt Anderson can hook you up with all the parts that you need.

If you go to Wild About Cars you will find info on where to install the battery and how to route the cables.

You can find the link here.
