alternator in or out regulator

alternator in or out regulator

I have a 1967 cutlass cs conv. with the regulator on the firewall the motor is a 1971 455 i have been using a alternator with a internal regulator because of the plug and setup should i get a alternator with out regulator and change the plug or can u run it with both regulators thx

Pick one or the other. If it works now keep it that way.

if it works, don't mess with it! you can't use both types of regulators together(and why would you want to?)
the integral solid state regulator is far superior to the electromechanical one.
