Accessory power source

Old thread ... have a question related to the power accessory feed used here. It appears you connected your power feed for seats, windows, etc. to a terminal on the fuse box using a "keyed" fuse box connector. (Scott's image # 4 shows a small 'shoulder' on the red connector so it can only fit into a specific terminal on the fuse box.) Aren't power accessories that draw high power like windows, seats, conv't. top, etc. supposed to receive power through the firewall circuit breaker rated 30 or 40 amp?

This is the factory location for electric windows, including the rear tailgate window for a wagon:

On my 1970 Cutlass Convertible, I have a circuit breaker on the firewall under the hood. That circuit breaker is fed direct from the battery and supplies voltage to the power window relay. The relay is activated by a pink wire that plugs into the fuse panel. So the voltage that powers the window goes from the battery through the circuit breaker and to the relay. When you turn the key on the pink wire activates the relay and allows the voltage from the circuit breaker to power the windows.

I moved this thread out of an old Parts Wanted ad and into it's own thread, since it was not asking about parts for sale.

What you are missing in that diagram is that the terminal on the fuse box is NOT powering the high current accessories like power windows. It is simply the wire that turns the isolation relay on or off when the ignition is in the RUN position. The actual power for these accessories comes from a circuit breaker under the hood and feeds through that isolation relay to the accessory.

This sounds correct. I ended up getting the missing piece from the original car I got the power set-up from and it used the Red plug with a splitter. I assume this runs the relay but also supplies the power for the bench seat.

Weirdly I can't find wiring for electric windows in the assembly manual, unfortunately I don't have a PDF of the body manual handy at the moment.
