98 Intrigue blower motor not working
98 Intrigue blower motor not working
I was planning on spending this Memorial day working on the '71 CS but the daughter's blower motor quit working. A little background:
'98 Olds Intrigue - I have her old 98 Intrigue as a donor
Blower worked but screamed - loose fan cage
Blower only worked on high - no other settings
The new '98 does not have auto temp control but the old '98 does
When she told me it quit working I just assumed it was the motor and swapped it out. And yes, the fan cage-to-motor connection was toast. However, none of the fan switch settings work now. I swapped all the under-hood relays and fuses with no luck. Am I looking at that relay (correction: resistor) that's up behind the blower motor? Honestly, I'd just swap it out to see but I can't get a wrench/socket on those relay screws for nothin'. Man, they're right up against that rubber firewall deal and I don't have a 1/4" u-joint socket (but I'm not even sure that would help).
All advice welcome....and thanks.

Update:
First off I meant the blower motor resistor, not the relay.
I was able to pick up a 1/4" u-joint and extension for my ratchet. I thought 1/4" would be small enough in diameter to give me the clearance I needed but still no luck. After two hours laying under that dash, I'm crying uncle.

I changed the resistor on my kid's Alero. A rectangular device up under the dash near the blower, passenger side. Stood on my head for a while, lay on my back for a bit, back on my head and finally it was done.
