83 H/O Gauge refurb
My speedo hasn't worked in some time and I took the car to a transmission shop to find out a gear in the tail shaft had been chewed up. I recall before losing the speedo that it would jump around a bit and was also quite choppy/noisy.
Shop Owner thinks it is the actual speedo and that it needs to be lubricated. I'm going to tackle that task a some others with the gauge panel:
1- Tach is 1,200 over at idle and just pins itself when I give it gas while driving.
2- Oil Pressure gauge flutters and bounces.
3- Temp gauge works just fine and then stops completely. Sometimes. Some massaging at the sending unit seems to bring it back, but sometimes. Also the wiring at the sending unit looks fine in terms of corrosion/connection.
- Before I jump into the CSM and tackle this project myself I'm looking for some good starting points. Truth is I don't know much about automotive wiring and I'm interested in learning but with some guidance.
Thanks CO,

The tach is a somewhat common issue. There is a connector on the tach for 6 or 8 cyl operation and when it looses connectivity it defaults to 6 cyl and that sounds like what you are experiencing.
The other gauges could be the senders or it could be in the wiring. That's just going to take some troubleshooting to figure that one out.
