76 98 Thermal Limiter location

I have been shining things up in the engine compartment and the thermal limiter is just flopping around loose.
It appears to have a clip and/or a mounting hole, but I cannot see anywhere that it was ever attached to anything.
Someone have a picture of where it should be mounted, or at least a good description of where it should go?

The metal clip (red arrow) snaps over the edge of the bracket (yellow arrow). This is shown in the A/C chapter in the Chassis Service Manual.

Highly recommend keeping spares in the car. The things were notorious fail items even when new and even with a properly charged AC system.

Joe, I tried to fit it where you said. The clip is too small to fit on the brace for the compressor.
I looked all through my service manual and could not find the image you referred to in the a/c section.
Page# or fig.# might help unless I am looking at the wrong book.
These are what I have, is there a 3rd book?

Still at a loss trying to figure this out.
I see what you were talking about by the diagram you posted.
Here is what my book shows, it is just floating in limbo.. lol
Looks like I need someone with a 76 to take a picture of how theirs looks.
I don't think anything has been changed from stock, but I sure can't figure out how to attach it to anything.

Thanks for all the input Joe!
After many exhaustive attempts to try to make it work, I finally gave up.
Zip Tie to the rescue.......LOL
