I've got a short in the tail light socket on my 72. It looks like it's crimped in the housing. How do I remove this without damaging the housing?
I've seen a few threads on replacement parts but no description on getting the old one out. But I'll take any reccomendations on part numbers.
pretty hard without trashing the housing, They are crimped in there and not designed to be removed. You can rebuild it with new springs. They make reproduction housings for 1970, but not for 71-72 (no idea why). I ended up just swapping out for a nice used housing as I also wanted the wiring unmolested.
I was able to remove the sockets on my 1970 Cutlass, but you have to be careful. I then had a machinist at work open up the holes to 1.25 inch, to accommodate the new sockets I got from Amazon. My new LED bulbs didn’t fit well in the old sockets. Made up new harnesses, nice and bright now
