72 Cutlass GEN Warning Light

I know there's no generator on this motor....so what could be the problem with mt Alternator? I recently replaced the Oil Sending unit due to the Oil Light flickering and that fixed that little problem, but almost immediately the GEN light came on! Any relation between the two? Wires are tight, Belt is tight, Harness is clean, Alt is less than a year old. I traced the wires back to the fire wall and all looks good.

The oil sender and alt have nothing in common, circuit wise. If you did not disturb the wire connectors on the alternator or regulator, and there are no abnormal wiring hack jobs done on it from a previous owner, do the following:

Measure across the battery with engine running, lights on and heater fan on high. Should be between 13.1 and 14V; 13.7 ideal.
If not, then the regulator (or maybe alt) has a problem. Let us know and we will go from there!
