71 cutlass wiring harness question

I have the complete dash harness out of my 442 and I was cleaning it up and replacing bulbs and looking to correct all the problems with it. I am geting a replacement dash from Mr Winn(aka oldspackrat)and wanted to have everything in great shape and ready to go without any problems. I found a cut wire all the way down at the fuse box. It is a light brown wire with a white stripe. There was two of those wires coming out of the fuse box, one is cut and the other leads to the fuel, oil, temp gauge. Any ideas as to where the other one went? I will try to get a picture up.
TIA DAVE

I suspect that's the connection to your foot dimmer switch to control the high beams.

I think it is for the parking brake according to the very hard to read online wiring diagram. Does anyone have a photo or can you explain how and where this was to exit the wiring harness and where. I am guessing there must have been a connector leading to the parking brake.

The parking brake wire should be tan with a double white stripe. Is there one on the other side?

It is light brown with a double white stripe. I guess it is tan. The other wire that is it is doubled with leads to the fuel gauge. I am assuming it is the parking and brake warning lead.

Do you have any info on how it leads to Parking brake assembly?

Dave,
I looked that up in my CSM. If you have one for 1972 the info and pic is on page 5-8. On the bottom of the park brake there is a switch that it connects to. The swithc looks like the one for the door jambs. So next I went to the 72 Assembly manual and looked it up in the electrical section. Here's a pic of the image from the Assembly Manual. It looks pretty straight forward. Chances are you may find the missing section of wire tucked up behind the parking brake pedal.

Just a suggestion - both the CSM and AM are like bibles to work on these cars. I'd strongly recommend getting one of each. I know you can go to some other websites to find e versions, but having a paper copy is darn handy.

Alan,
Thanks for your help. I do need a hard copy version as the online ones are great but difficult to read sometimes. Plus I can't carry my iPad everywhere. Lol. I am taking a trip up to Indy to visit oldspackrat next week and he has about 5-7 harnesses I can reference. Always nice getting quick responses and loads of info on these boards.
