67 442 wiper motor issue

Guys I discovered when I drove the car home in the rain from a Olds Regional meet my 2-speed wipers would only work if I kept my finger pushed in like your going to use the washers. Both speeds would work as long as I kept my finger pushed in keeping the washer mode on? Obviously the motor works, I'm assuming it's the switch? I want to make sure before I figure out how to remove the dash-I don't how else you can change it out on a 67 A-body

Pull the **** off then turn or loosen the escutcheon, collar that holds the switch on the dash. Reach behind and pull the switch out. If you have to remove it. I had to move the wiring harness around to get mine to work, loose wire somewhere. Haven't found it yet.

My 1967 4 door went through a bout of that last winter. I removed the switch, cleaned up the surface where it contacts the ground strap back of the dash. I also lightly sanded the mating surface of the ground strap with emory cloth, re-installed and its worked fine every since! John

I like the idea of looking for a bad ground first. I may have the time to take the east out and crawl up in there and look around. Thanks

I removed the wires on the wiper motor and washer, sprayed the contacts with Radio Shack contact/control Cleaner@lubircant. Then reached up (barely) under the dash wiggled the contacts/wires back and forth, re-set them WHHLAA I got wipers! Thanks guys.
