2 Condensers?

Did the 1966 442 have 2 Condensers? One on coil and one inside distributor?

I found a A/C Delco part number D204 I’m guessing that is for inside distributor?

the condenser in the distributor is for the ignition system.
The one on the coil is used to suppress radio interference with the AM radio.
D204 is used inside the distributor.

Thanks Charlie.

I can’t seem to find Delco part number for the coil radio frequency condenser. Do you know that number?

You can use a D104 from the auto parts store rated for .22mf. It is connected to the positive side of the coil.

I couldn’t find the D104 you mentioned on any online store.
Also, on my current coil the “coil condenser” is connected to negative side of coil.
Are you sure it should go to positive side??

I wouldn't worry about replacing the condenser on the coil periodically, like in a tune-up.
In fact, the one inside the distributor may not really need to be changed along with the points.
The condenser was traditionally changed during a tune-up as a CYA move.
Yes, the condenser should be on the + side of the coil.

Sorry typo, yes a D204 and yes it connects to the coil+ terminal. It's a power noise filter.

Thanks guys!

I guess someone in the past put it on negative side by accident. Maybe they switched it to negative as some sort of backup or testing the one inside distributor.

I know I don’t need it, I was just gonna buy one with my new distributor points, condenser, etc. to keep my engine bay original.

Now that I know what it does I’m just gonna keep the old one on there but put it back to the positive post.
