1983 Hurst/Olds Gauges

So I removed my ecm, because I don't want to deal with that anymore. How can I wire the gauges to work now. Do they just require 12 volts to work?

I just don't know if the ecm to the gauges was a different voltage. I just need to know if they operate off of 12 volt power?

The gauge cluster does not work off of the ECM..... Fuel, oil pressure, coolant temp and tach readings should not be affected by the removal of the ECM for your 83 Hurst....

If you are having problems with them not working you might check the ground. I had to reground the gauges in my 83 when I was having problems.

You guys are going to hate me, but i swapped a ls engine into my 83 cutlass, but i need your guy's help. I figured that i am going to have this car my entire life so i want to make it into my car. I am not going to sell it so it doesn't matter to me if its all original or not. I do want to keep the spirit of the car by keeping the same paint and decals, but the biggest thing is the shifters, so no matter what i am going to keep the shifters.
I just need to know a few things. What color is the tach wire? Then i have to figure out the oil pressure and coolant temp.

I did a cluster swap on an 80 Cutlass 20 or so years ago and let me tell you that it was an adventure. I had never done anything like that before so I just took my time and figured it out...with no diagrams to go by.

What I did was inspect each printed circuit to figure out where each connection terminated both at the plug and in the cluster. This allowed me to figure out if I needed to move any of the wires around, and well, I did. All but the ground wire needed to be moved to make the swap work. It took me a little time and patience to figure it out, but I got it figured out and everything worked when I was done.

I realize that you are not swapping clusters, but this method should work for you if you can't get your hands on a wiring diagram.
