Problem with my underhood lamp for the '77 Cutlass?

I changed the lamp with no luck.
The fuse should be okay. It controls the Tail, Sidemarker, License, underhood
lamps and radio capacitor. They all work EXCEPT the underhood lamp.

Is the underhood switch operated by Mercury? Do I loosen it and shake the living daylights out of it?

Is there another inline fuse I am missing?

Many of the hood lights only work if the headlights are on. Did you try it like that?

Ok...glad to help! It is weird, some Fords and others work w/o the lights, it makes more sense. You should think about buying an owners manual off ebay.

 

I thought my old Jeep Cherokee came on without the headlight switch off or on.
My bad. I will look a little closer next time.
I do have an Owner's Manual, Oldsmobile Chassis Service Manual and Oldsmobile Fisher Body Service Manual. I guess I missed it.
