1972 olds cutlass tic toc tac install

purchased new tic toc tac gauge with clock from the parts place, wired up and clock works but tach does not move. it sweeps when unhooked and ground reapplied. hei dizzy running holley sniper and it works just fine. bad gauge i guess or will it not work without the 2 amp inline fuse, plan on installing one just havent got to it yet? thanks in advance

Need more information to give you a good answer---what all did you change and replace before installation, and what did you do when installing the new set?

You probably already did the following, but confirm.

If replacing standard (warning lights, no gauges) you need the appropriate (new) senders for coolant temperature and oil pressure. You also need to rewire the connector. Tach needs connection to coil (if points), or HEI terminal, or ignition box square wave connector.

Everything works except the tach, I'm feeding the tach the same signal that the Holley sniper is getting. It's running like a champ so I know the hei signal is good. Tach must be bad, like I said it sweeps when removing and reattaching the ground to it.
