1972 Dash Harness wiring guage

Morning all,

I am in the process of wiring up my 1972 442 Convt (still).

The car was in a flood back in 1972 and alot of the electricial components are really rusted so I picked up a doner car (1972 Cutass) and was going to use that under dash harness. While looking/comparing the 2 harnesses ... I noticed that the orange wire that I think was for clock, cig lighter, etc looks to be thicker on my orig harness (10-12 vs 14-16) . Everything else looks to be roughly the same. Any ideas why the difference, and am I ok with using the other harness?

Thanks as always folks !!

Jim

Old style clock worked via a spring which was wound by an electromagnet which pulled a lot of current. If you have a more modern clock it won't matter. Not sure what the last year was for the electromagnet clock.
