1972 Cutlass AM/FM Radio
1972 Cutlass AM/FM Radio
New to this site but already have gotten lots of information on my Cutlass.
The light bulb on my AM/FM radio has burnt out....any ideas on changing it out or sending it off to be repaired?

It's held into the radio chassis with a clip and is accessed from top of the radio. You may be able to get your hand up in there to remove and replace it, but slightly dropping the radio in the dash may be easier.
You'll have to remove the A/C ductwork at bottom of the dash and the glovebox door and liner to get at it or to pull the radio.
Before you get too worked up over this, turn the car's lights on and look behind the dash to make sure a previous owner didn't pull the bulb clip out and then couldn't get it back in. Look for a loose gray wire, which is standard Olds color for instrument lighting.
You really should get the CSM before tackling this job. Compared to modern cars your 72 is very simply put together but, Olds being Olds, they were more complex than a similar year Chevrolet.

I have found a CSM in the trunk of the car...had lots of paper work ( "72 Pink Slip from California, 72 - 86 Vehicle Registration Cards and lots of road maps... no GPS back then) Thanks for the information I'll also refer to Service Manual.
The pink slip and the registration cards are a good find. Now you have some history on the vehicle. 😀
