1971 Cutlass Supreme Convertible Top relay location
If your intention is to spend modest to significant amounts of time, you should get a PIM. I have one as do many. Reach out to Hairy Olds, he has exceptional PIM products. He doesn't have one listed on this thread, but ask him anyways.

Convertible Top Circuit Breaker
I'm researching old posts about convertible top circuit breakers (relays). While shopping for a replacement part, I've found circuit breakers available in both 30 and 40 amp models. Can anyone here confirm which value is correct?
Thanks
Thanks
With all of that said, my circuit breaker is 40A. I suspect I'll find the actual part number after I clean it up real good & I'll post that number if I find it. Manufactured by LITTELFUSE, INC.
My '71 Cutlass Supreme has both the power top & power windows. I've researched the wiring & it appears the firewall mounted breaker has one wire direct from the horn relay distribution block, & two wires from the other post entering the cabin. One looks like it goes directly to the top switch, & the other to the power window relay in the left kick panel. This is gathered from the car itself, as well as both Factory Service Manual, & Fisher Body Manual. I'd wondered about the amperage of that breaker also, & never found a specific reference. Great information.

I began tracing the car's wiring shortly after I bought it. There didn't appear to be a fuse as indicated for the high speed blower relay. Someone had just patched the two wires together. My concern after looking at the wiring / breaker, behind the brake booster, was that the wire to the interior had begun to melt. After a closer look, it seems to be water proofing goop the factory used at the grommet.
Oh well, my circuit breaker demonstrates perfect continuity although I did clean it all up including the posts & wire terminal ends. The Power Top SW is FUBAR - flops around like a limp dick. Looking forward to removing the speedo & fuel cluster guages for an R&R.
I removed mine to replace all the IP bulbs after I bought the car. 1971 Cutlass. Switch is pretty much below the gas gauge. That one & my clock came out easily. Good luck. I've not done my top switch (it was replaced by the PO) but could you access it from below if you remove the A/C duct? I pulled off the duct to work on my fuse panel. Just one screw.
