1969 dash wiring

I recently tested the turn signals on my 1969 cutlass and found that both sides don't blink, they simply stay on. The hazards, however, work fine.

I have replaced all fuses and installed a new flasher. I have noticed some wires and connectors underneath the dash that are loose but I can't find where they go, any advice would be helpful, and pics of dash wiring would be extremely helpful.

I believe there are 2 flashers in 69, one for turn and one for hazards. Think turn flasher is located at lower dash-steering column area.

Please someone correct me if I'm wrong...

2 different style flashers... I believe the flasher for the turn signals should be a 2 lamp flasher. Wrong series flasher will mess things up...

Would that be the flasher on a pigtail under the dash next to the steering column, or the one on the fuse box? The one on the fuse box is only for the four way flashers, the other is for the turn signals.

I replaced the flasher on the fuse box but I'm not familiar with the one everyone is saying is near the steering column,is that the wiring that actually goes up the steering column to the turn signal switch? a picture would be helpful

A picture isn't going to help you. You have to fish around the column until you find it. Look at the assembly manual, probably section 12 (that's where it is in 68). It gives you a pretty good idea of where it is.

Flasher

I don't understand what the turn signal flasher looks like, is it the same cylindrical shape as a hazard flasher. If anyone has a picture it would be greatly appreciated.

It should be cylinder, but flashers also came square and I believe any 2 pronged replaces any other 2 prong. There are also 3 prong type.
I don't have a Cutlass to get a pic. Move your seat back, get a flashlight and search behind the dash where the column goes through it.
I take it the one you replaced was in the fuse box?

The turn signal flasher is connected to a pigtail that comes off the dash harness. It will be located to the passenger side of the steering column, held in a clip attached to the top side of the lower sheet metal dash panel. If you get your head under the dash, you will see it. The original flasher was cylindrical and does look like the one on the fuse box. Often the flasher pops out of the clip, so don't be surprised if it's just flopping around loose.

Basically it will be on the lower backside of the dash, between the steering column and the heater control.

If it's still in the original location (they rarely are), it's in a clip attached under the inside base of the dash, just to the left of the steering wheel. I tried jamming my 51 year old body under the dash to contort myself between the driver's seat and the door frame only to find out that you can't get an iPhone 5 anywhere near far enough away to get a picture because there's so much crap under there. So I popped it out of the clip (mines still in there) and took this pic of it. After all that I was too lazy to rotate the pic before I uploaded it but if you turn your computer upside down it will look right side up.

Joe, You posted while I was taking a pic. In my 68 it is on the other side of the steering column. I'm fairly sure the clip was originally there because I think it was tack welded in. Maybe in 69 it's on the other side

I'm afraid it's been so long since I did one on a 69, I don't actually remember. I know I've seen them on the passenger side, but I just checked the 68 CSM (it was the one closest to me) and it shows the flasher between the column and wiper switch, as you correctly noted. I guess look there first, and if you can't find it, look on the other side. I think once the ignition switch got moved to the column, there was more real estate on the RH side, but I don't know for sure what years went that way. Sorry for the mis-information.

I found mine ('69 S) exactly where it's shown in that diagram, still in the clip. It's possible (but seems unlikely) that some options may have required it to be relocated slightly.
