1968 Cutlass S Turn Signal Lever replacement

I stumbled on why my front signals were not blinking. I can get them to flash if I hold the turn signal lever down/up but not let it "click" in. If I get it to the point of resistance and hold it with out actually clicking the lever into place, the signals blink (hallelujah!). At the moment, the signal lever is very loose and wiggles around like my 6 years front tooth. The plastic tip is also broke off. So, something happened to the lever at some point.

I was thinking I could simply replace the signal lever, but am not sure how to remove the column housing. Is this something easy? A couple screws to get me there?

From: Too close to Toronto!!
Remove the steering wheel from the column, then remove small screw holding lever in place, then install new lever, screw , steering wheel and you're done.
