I removed the heater box and restored hoses under the dash of my 1967 Delta 88. After all was reinstalled I found that for some reason the following lights don't work as they should. All instrument panel lights, glove compartment heater control lights are out. Turn signal works left lower forward curtesy and rear sail panels light work with door switch and dashboard switch, radio is working, headlights and rear light work as well. But I found this socket hanging orphaned near the steering culum where the main junctions reside as well. It is on a brown wire and I don't know where to reattach it to even after a back braking excursion under the dash head ob´ver between the pedals.
The reostate for the lights integrated in the head light switch does not do the trick when I turn it. The rear light are on when lights are turned on a s well and I checked that loose socket gets 12V when I turn the lights on.. so I believe it could be the missing power connections for the instrument panel lighting. The service manual and assembly manual wiring are bad PDF's and I cant read up where the ground or the power come from for the entire dash panels lighting.
Any hint from a magician would be great ? On my 1972 Cutlass Coupe the dash also turns on and off on its own and I never know it it will be there for the next drive in the dark... A wiring for that would be of great help as well.
Here is the connector that receives 12V when I turn the headlights switch on .. but where does it go ?
The brown pigtail feeds the glovebox and underhood lights.
The instrument, heater, clock, and ash tray illumination lamps are fed by a grey wire circuit that gets power from the 3 amp PNL LT fuse. This fuse, in turn, is fed from the rheostat on the headlight switch.
Thanks for these hints Joe, I could not tell from the bad PDF wiring I have from the service manual. Will do a deep dive soon again an see if I find where the grey is disconnected as the fuse seems to be ok from first measurements.
