1964 Oldsmobile 98 wiper
I recently got a 1964 Oldsmobile 98 and it was claimed the wipers don't work and I wanted to see if they even made sound so I connected the two-speed with washer wiper system and tried to use the switch. I was investigating if the switch even works and I have no clue how it should be connected. The manual doesn't help really. It is a new switch that the previous owner replaced the original with.
The only wire connected to anything is the red one.

Look in the color electrical wiring diagrams to see what wire does what. Then look in the body manual for explanation of the wiper system. THEN... start looking for a CORRECT wiper switch and get a pigtail and plug so you can get rid of that jerry rigged **** that just screams fire hazard. I know sometimes you do what's necessary to keep the car road legal, but something wired wacky can burn a car to the ground.
GM part #: Group 10.163, p/n 1993607, 62-66 2-speed all except Cutlass and Toronado. You'll need a 1964 **** and bezel. Maybe someone on here has a 64 parts car you can get switch, ****/bezel and wiring pigtail from.

In stock configuration, the wiper motor gets its power from the purple wire when the key is on. The pink and light green wires supply the ground side to engage the hi and low speeds through the dash switch, the jumpered purple wire provides power and the white wire provides a ground to turn on the washer. There is no power that runs through the dash selector switch, grounds only.
