1964 cutlass ignition help
I have a 64 cutlass convertible automatic with factory center console. I can not get the car to start from the ignition but can jump it at the distribution block under the hood.
I pulled the ignition switch and tested it as best I knew how. I have connectivity between the power in and the ignition wire when I roll the key to start.
Is there a park safety switch in the console by chance?
Thanks for the help

Yes, there is a neutral safety switch on the shifter in the console. Before tearing everything apart, try a little troubleshooting. Near the base of the steering column you'll find a connector with two purple wires. This is the connection to the neutral safety switch on column shift cars. There should be a mating connector with two purple wires that runs to the console NSS. Unplug this connector. Temporarily jumper the two terminals in the connector that goes to the dash harness. The car should start. If not, the problem isn't in the console. If it does start, now check for continuity between the terminals in the other connector that runs to the console. If you don't get continuity, try slowly moving the shifter to see if there is continuity in other positions. If so, the switch is mis-adjusted. If not, either the switch or the wiring is bad and the console needs to come apart.

Guess it's time to take a console apart...this one year shifter thing has me very very nervous
