1964 cutlass circuit breaker

I have a 64 cutlass convertible. I took the dash out to chase down a melted accessory position on the ignition harness. Been like this for 10 years. Car has power top, power seats and power windows. The power window harness has an additional offshoot of wires near the heater controls. These wires are blue, red and white and terminate in a plug that is the same shape as the power top switch. This plug was not connected when I pulled the dash and I cannot find a switch to connect it to. For some reason in the past someone jumped the blue and red wires in the plug. When traced the blue and red wires appear to go to the circuit breaker. Couldn’t find any wiring diagram that shows these wires. Anyone have any ideas on why this plug is present and jumped? Car ran normal and all electrical functioned properly. Seeing how these are hots wires with a jumper and no function I’m thinking of removing the connections from the breaker. Thanks for any insight.

Could this be for a relay? Although I see no relay under the dash. My
guess is relay because the power seat has a relay on the seat frame.

Power locks were not available on the 1964 Cutlass, so what exactly do you have? Pictures would help you get a useful answer.

Sorry, Joe. i meant to type power windows in the original post. Updated that post. Reviewed the 65 Assembly manual and indeed found a relay on that circuit. Assume it to
be the same for 64? Correct me if I’m
wrong. I’ll have to search for the specific relay type. It’s a 3 pin plug.

The relay is an isolation relay that allows the high-current power accessories to be controlled with the ignition switch without running that current through the ignition switch contacts. The one on my 64 Vista went bad, preventing the power windows and rear window from working. It's bolted to the firewall under the dash.

Joe, did you end up replacing the relay? Currently mine has a jumper between the red and blue wires. I found a three prong relay for power windows. About $25.

I took it apart and cleaned the contacts for now. The car is unfortunately a ways from being done. I'll replace it eventually, likely with a newer generic relay since it isn't visible. The car won't be totally stock anyway.
