1953 Olds Super88 Slider Switch Under Ignition

There is a slider switch directly under the ignition. What exactly does this do? I didn't want to move it until I know more about what it does. You can even see it in the owners manual picture but there is no reference to it at all. Any clues?

Thanks,
Lee

So here's a bit of an update. I went ahead and checked to wiring diagram and the only switch I could find that wasn't the over head light was one for the external spot light. The car doesn't have one but I don't know if the switch was a factory placed item just in case you added one in the future. I ended up flipping the switch back and forth looking for other lights to come on or off with the door open and closed. Nothing. If anyone has any other ideas I'd like to know. Thanks everyone!
