How to change Charcoal Canister Filter ...?

I ordered a cannister filter pad for my '78 Olds Delta 350 ...
Anyone have a quick step-by-step / tips on how to change the filter?
I'm guessing it's somewhere on the bottom of the canister, & I will need to remove it ?
Thanks!

Remove canister, turn upside down, peel out old filter (if it is even still there), and poke the new one in using popsicle sticks or such. It is at the very bottom and just 'sticks in there'.
