85 88 Headers Help?
85 88 Headers Help?
What headers should I use for an 85 Delta? Do you think these 75's would work even though those cars were bigger? Or should I use G body ones?

From The Header Shop.com: I was under the impression that the sub frames for G Body were used on the Delta 88 for 80-85 These should be the right fit:

Thanks,

I have a beat up set of A body headers that I will test fit, but I'm thinking It's going to be a big NO.

I know for a fact they will not work. I tried G body headers
I have a printout of 1975 Cutlass headers, but I'm not sure if they will fit or not.
I was looking at this set, you need something that will clear the frame. Long tubes will not clear the engine crossmember.

I haven't had the money to get them and test it out. Plus I'm putting some seroius money into the Alero right now, getting it ready for the Homecomming show

So the G's won't work, and you think the 75's are too tall?
Hmm...
I think I'm gonna have some ugly, slag piled home made ones then. Those hedmans look nice.
Anyone else have thoughts?

I'm very curious as to what the problem was. The 80s G-body and B-body cars use exactly the same motor and frame mounts. The crossmember is also very similar, and the B-body frame should be wider. What did the headers hit?
It's the way they come down.
I bought a pair when I still had the 307 in the car and they didn't fit. I bought similar ones that were mentioned in the first post (looked the same but a different manfacture)
Personally, I think somethng that will exit right by the #7 and #8 cyl respectively will do the trick

How were you installing them? When I put a set on my 1971 Cutlass Wagon I jacked it up pretty high and put them in from underneath. I still had to remove the oil filter mount and re-install it when the header was in place.

I apologize that my writing ability is not up to par with yours. I'm no English gramar guru. I'm all ears to constructive criticism though. You know what they say - "there's always room for improvement". However, I don't see how any of this has anything whatsoever to do with the actual issue at hand - OLDSMOBILES & EVERYTHING SURROUNDING THEM. Nevertheless, take care buddy.....

Hey man, no harm done.
We're guys, that's what we do. After being nice and helpful on the web all day, It's refreshing to be a dick, every now and then. All in a day's work.
Everyone gets a jab in the ribs every now and then, part of growing up.
Actually, I believe my english correction was incorrect anyway, Capt.Jim set the record straight on that issue already I believe.
And now...
Back to headers on 88s

I know this company makes headers for the earlier B bodies. I don't know if they would fit though.

Seems to me that a set of "shorty" headers would be the way to go. However, I have never installed headers before. I did help my buddy change header gaskets on the 81 Camaro he had. I recall he was changing those about once every DAY!
