62 Dynamic 88 grill emblem?

Anyone know what the deal is with the red three pointed olds emblem on the drivers side grill.I notice all the Super 88's have it,but only some of the Dynamics.Mine has one but not sure if it's supposed to.Has the grill been replaced with a Super grill or is it a Canadian thing or what?
Cheers Greg

Only Super 88s got the lefthand grille Rocket in 1962. Ninety Eights had a "NINETY EIGHT" nameplate in the left grille and Dynamics did not get any grille ornamentation. If the car was produced in Canada, Canadian builds may have been different.

Otherwise I'd say your Dynamic has had a nose job repair at some time in its life. The fact that your trunk Rocket is upside down makes me believe the car may have had body and paint work some time over the past 50 years.

Interestingly my 62 shop book and my 65 Chassis Parts manual show only the Starfire grille and front end sheetmetal in the 1962 diagrams, so they're not worth a hoot for reference here.

The 65 book lists 1.303 p/n 584645 as "ornament, grille, 1962 S88", p/n 584692 as "ornament, grille, 1962 98" and p/n 585437 as "ornament, grille, 1962 S/fire". No mention of any grille ornament for series 3200 Dynamic.

Thanks for that.Pretty much all the trim and emblems were in the trunck of this car,I just put the trunk emblems on for the pic.....upside down obviosly, oops.I can't see any evidence of front end damage, unless it was just the grill. The few Dynamics that I have seen online with this grill ornament were Canadian,so it may have been a Canuck thing.Haven't had much luck finding info on the Canadian built cars. The vin# doesn't seem to jive with what I've seen online either.
Thanks again Greg

I own a '62 D88. I can assure you there is no grille emblem on it like the one you reference. That was a S88 styling cue. Hey, you had to get something extra for stepping up from the base model Dynamic, right?

Hey Dave, thanks for that.I kinda thought something was up with the grill. Was hoping maybe it was a Canadian quirk.Might just leave it to test the true Olds officianados.
P.S. I love ur Saved 62,she's a beaut!
Season's Greetings Greg

Greg, thank you for the kind words re: my ride. It is appreciated. Have to say, I always thought the grill emblem added a little touch of class.
