Wiper delay adjustment

I have a 85 delta 88 coupe

1 thing that had always botherd me was my wiper delay the wipers go up but instead of coming back down, they come down half way on my windshield pause and then go down starting the process all over again.

Is this normal for the car??? Kinda annoying having wipers just sitting on the windshield just partially blocking your view for no reason.

Any fix???

Not going all the way down is normal but they should not block your view.
When they are off, are they parked below the glass upon the little plastic 'ramps'? If not the linkage may need to be adjusted so where they will go down further.

When they are off they do indeed park themselves below the glass in correct position, but when on and there is a delay set on TS lever they stop dead in the middle of the windshield then kick down and start the process over again, if its normal then I understand but it just really annoys me

Hope I'm explaining clearly.

Sounds like something is misadjusted in the motor (like gears not aligned?).
They should not stop up high, go down, then go back up with every sweep. They should stay just above the stainless trim plate whenstopped using the delay mode, then go up, then back down. Do you have a chassis service manual? It might show the details inside the motor...

Sure don't but I wouldn't doubt your theory with the misadjusted motor no idea what the exact fix is though.

Something in yours is out of whack because I have seen these systems in action...
I will try to remember to look in my book this weekend and see if I see anything useful.
Remind me if I do not post something by Sun. afternoon.

Thx Rob

Anybody else have any idea what it could be or what to check on the motor?

it is also possible that it is the wiper module. not sure on Olds but the chevy with delay wipers has a control module located on the bottom of the steering column and they are notorious for problems. I have had ones that would not delay, ones that would not turn on the wipers on wash but would turn on the washer pump, ones that would delay and stop half way through. since all GM's used the same parts it is likely that it is failing.

I believe all the control circuitry is located in the motor housing for the one on Devil's car...
