Inlet manifold

Hey there all. After an 4 barrel inlet manifold for a 371 block with 394 heads. If you got one and keen on shipping to New Zealand, will make it worth your while. Cheers, Jeff.

Just curious, how are you going to make that work without a bunch of mill work. Is it a real early 394 (punched out 371) or a later head. The reason I ask is because of the deck height differences the ports would be way off and doubtful the head bolts would line up to the block. Always here to learn something......Tedd

371 or 394 heads

Hi there. I was told they are 394 heads on a 371 block. The previous owners replaced the originals as they cracked. Any help and info is really appreciated. Thanks, Jeff.

Well as I understand it, early engines 59 and maybe 60 394's were basically a 371 punched out to 394 so this maybe thats what you have but the later 61-64 engines are quite different with heavier mains, rods and a higher deck hight and the intakes heads and internals are similar but different enough that you can't swap parts around without major work .

Somewhere on this site the head numbers are listed ( you might do a search under 394 heads) and that would tell if you were trying to mismatch parts that won't go together. Head numbers are located between the middle exhaust ports and I think number 22 are for a late motor could be wrong on this it's been a loooong time since I had a 394.

You might post on the vintage forum lots of knowledgeable people there.....Tedd

371 or 394 heads

Hi there Tedd, I tried to e-mail you directly but some thing went wrong. Anyway, the car is a 1959 88 dynamic so I guess she's an early model 371. Anyway, I will get the numbers off the block and the heads and then let you know. Thanks very much for your help, Cheers, Jeff.

Hey there Tony. I have cylinder head and manifold numbers for you. Hope they help. The left hand cylinder head has H14253L stamped on it and the manifold has 573388 cast onto that. Hope this helps, Cheers, Jeff.
