57 Super 88 breather tube

I removed the trans and in the process the rear breather tube fell out of the back of the 371 motor.

Is there a gasket I should be using to seal this rear breather tube when I put it back in? Seems to be throwing a lot of oil residue all over things back there?

Also wondering how important it is to install sealant around the front bell housing main shaft seal before pressing/pounding it in? i didn't do this and have it back together, but not installed into the car yet.

From 394's, the breather tube just slips in the breather housing - no gasket required here. The breather housing that takes the gasket, which should be in any good complete gasket kit

Awesome, that's what I was hoping for. I looked for a few hours yesterday for some sort of gasket but not a lot is mentioned on the breather tube. It doesn't say anything about it in the shop manual.

Thanks for your help.
