A/C Questions

hi Guys
Been driving my 66 Dynamic 88 for probably a year ish now , getting things done one bit at a time.
Now the Weather here in Georgia is , err..... a little Toasty, for want off a better word..
I would like my air to work properly.

It's sorta kinda working
I fully recharged the system (It is converted to 134a) and all seems well, compressor is compressing :-), cold pipes ,
I changed the blower unit , brand new one , but I still dont get very much air moveing in the car.
I went under the dash and renewed a couple off the ducts to the vents on each side , taped up any air leaks i could find , but still , not much force from the a/c vents on full blower.

Did some more investagating under the hood
and found what looks like a vac can , on the firewall passenger side, but it seems to have 2 x inlet/outlet nose connectors , but only one hose or vacume line connected ?

where can i find a diagrame of the hose/vac line set up?
i,m assuming the doors for the a/c heater set up are vac operated but i,m admittedly completley lost on this one .

ANY thoughts/links help would be very gratefully recieved :-)

Yes there are vacuum operated doors that route or blend air. In the assumption the new blower motor is working correctly at all speeds the absence of air volume at the A/C dash outlets would indicate the air is either being forced to the defroster vents or the under dash heater vent. If you do not hear any door opening or closing when moving the control between A/C, Heat, and Vent positions then there is decidedly a vacuum source problem, a vacuum motor problem, or a door stuck in the plenum. Possibly a combination of two of the three.

While I don't have a manual for your specific model to reference the basic vacuum scheme for GM A/C controls varied little between 1961 through the 1970s and even beyond, including those systems supplied to Ford with exception of the actual vacuum source pull off. If the vacuum reserve canister you found is only connected with one line there should be the remains of the second line somewhere or evidence of a re-route by-passing the canister.
