Totalled the Delta today

Well right now I should be in work writing a thread about how many a**holes can't drive in the rain, but right now I'm at home telling everybody this.

I was driving to work, pouring rain, highway speed reduced to 35. The car in front of me just stopped. No reason, just stopped.

Couldn't stop in time

I'm fine, and the other guy is fine, at least right now. I probably just paid for this kid's college education.

They are going to take into consideration all the mods I've done to it provided I have the receipts. It may bump up the value of the car, it depends on the adjuster. I do have collision on the car.

The car is at my mech's shop, if they total it. I am allow to keep it. I'll pull out all my stuff (engine, trans, gauges, etc) and sell the rest for scrap

Man, that thing got demolished! What kind of car was he driving? I figured driving an old B-body you'd fare pretty well but wow! Sorry about that.

Ah ****!!!

Well..... My heart is broken for the day.

Don't scrap it if they total it. I'll probably end up buying most of it from you.
I still need doors, and a passenger quarter..... and that's for starters. I'm pretty much building one from scratch.

From the looks of the pictures its a good thing you weren't driving some crappy compact import.
I am sure it would have been more serious if you had.

Bummer!

Good to hear that no one was hurt! Sorry your Delta got bashed up pretty bad. Perhaps you can get it fixed. If not, I am sure you can find another good Olds in your area. Good luck.

Glad eveyone is OK

From the pictures it looks much worse than it is. Sheet metal and a little frame tug will probably fix it

Dude... glad you're okay. The car really doesn't look that bad if the frame is okay. The frame could be trapezoid even though it looks fine, don't want a dog legging car.
A real good move having collision, unfortunately too many people are underinsured or have the wrong type insurance on these type cars and learn too late. You may have saved a few people here some grief in the future. I bet a few are calling their agents or taking another look at their coverage right now.

I know it's a real PITA but it could have been a hell of a lot worse.

Believe it or not the other car was a Chrysler 300 M, it DROVE AWAY

I couldn't beileve it.

The car is at my mech's shop right now, if it's totaled the engine and tranny are fine. The water pump could be smacked and the fuel pump is broken. 2 easy things to replace.

Too soon yet the adjuster is comming out one day next week

There must be a front clip you can salvage from a recycler?? Doesn't even look like your windshield broke. $$$ at a bodyshop, but may be a lot less $ if you DIY. Get some buddies to help?? Sorry to hear about your misfortune; and glad you're ok. Unless there's a lot more to the eye, this baby doesn't look totalled. My neighbors truck has more damage on it and he still drives it. (but its a chev and he doesn't have a lot of pride). Hope everything works out for ya.
