Quick question , what should I run as tire pressure , on my 66 Dynamic 88
14x6 Tires I think ?

Go by the tire manufacturers' suggestion, it is imprinted on the tire.

 

With a radial tire, 32-35 psi. With an original bias ply or belted bias tire, 28-30.

You have a heavy car to be riding on currently available 14" tires. Somebody was commenting on a 66 Ninety Eight wearing white letters tires a few days back; odds are those were all the owner could find in anywhere close to the right size which is 225/75R14.

Cooper/Mastercraft and Hercules were about the only tiremakers left making a big 14" whitewall and neither lists that size any longer on their websites.

A 215/75-14 tire is too small for a full-size 60s Oldsmobile.

That leaves two options- outrageously priced reproduction tires, or having somewhere like Diamondback Classics make you a whitewall or redline on a new 225/70R14 tire casing. When mine need them again, I'll go Diamondback. I know too many people who've had issues and outright failures on repro tires.

 

Would it be feasable to go with 15" wheels and tires?

 

I know my 1964 Olds 98 has 15 inch wheels. I think it currently has 235/75 R 15s. They are a bit too big and scrape on the front. But, since I am not driving it right now they work fine. I will have to replace them when I am ready to drive the car anyways.

 

Crocker Tires makes a 235/75R/14 tire and so does Cooper that is the same size as the Original tire for the big cars from 1955 through the mid 60's. I have new set of 5 Wide whites on rims that I have for sale because I am going to 15" Wheels to clear my disc brake set up

 

Sorry to butt into the thread, but does anyone know how big of tires I can get on my '73 Delta 88? I have the stock 15" rims, but I think the tires look too small for the wheel wells. I am hoping that I can use the same rims(because I like the original wire wheel hubcaps) but put on some wider and maybe taller tires to give the car some thicker feet. I don't want to rub all over town though,, so if anyone knows how big I might be able to go, I would appreciate it.

You want to use a 75 series tire then. They would be the tallest for any given tire width. I couldn't say for sure but maybe 225/75R15. I don't think you can get an 80 series but they would be even taller.

 

I had a set of 235/70r15's on a 68 cutlass temporarily, and they filled out the wells nicely. they are stock on the older s10's and got them as take offs. they would probably look better on a delta than they did on the cutlass.
