T/S switch install

I went to replace it , but I was pulling on the wire and it didn't come out. I didn't want to be rough with it. How do I disconnect it, and then reconnect

Are you talking about the turn signal level with cruise control? If so go under the dash and look for a small 4 wire square shaped black connector with a white clip on the side should be near the steering column. Release clip and wire should pull through steering column.

Getting the wire back through the column is a PITA though. I would suggest either tying a string to the wire when you pull it through or use that electricians fish tape i believe its called? Good luck let us know how it goes.

+1 string method works great.

OK Thanks for the help guys

Here I thought the plug was just in the column somewhere and you had to 'pull' it out, then tuck it back

Just to clarify, are you talking about the turn signal LEVER and it's wire, or the actual turn signal SWITCH and it's wire? If the latter, you need to pull the lever off first and extract the cruise control wire as discussed above. With that out of the way, you need to disconnect the turn signal harness connector at the base of the column and then carefully pull the switch and harness up out of the column. The wires should be held in a plastic sheath that slides out with it. Note that the flat connector at the base of the column also needs to be started up into the slot in the column as you pull on the wires so that it doesn't snag on the edge of the slot. Don't forget to unscrew the hazard button first, however.
