Rpo y79

So I learned something today...

Since I'm not as familiar with the 1960s full size cars, I've been reading up on them. Imagine my surprise when I stumbled across RPO Y79 in the 1967 SPECS booklet.

Yes, that's Y79, Tach/Clock Combination, and per the photo in the 1967 CSM, it looks exactly like the 68-69 A-body Tic-Toc-Tach. I knew it was possible to install the 68-69 Rally Pac in the 67-68 full size dash, but I did not know that the tach/clock was a factory option (and WITHOUT the gauge cluster).

I like reading through those options lists. So I take it that was one of the more rare options then? What are some of the other ones that are uncommon?

So will you be adding this to your parts wanted list?

'Cause one of those will be easy to find...

Actually, I was planning on the whole 68 Rally Pac installation. The 67 Y79 looks just like the 68 Tic-Toc-Tach anyway.

Part number 6457998

That was an expensive part then...1972 catalog shows it at $121.50, which is around $700 today.

Yeah, not surprising. It was $78.99 if you checked the option box when you bought the car. Consider that in 1968 the whole Rocket Rally Pac (gauges plus tach/clock) was only $84.26 in an A-body. Interestingly, Y79 was not available on the 1968 Delta line.

I have seen ONE 67 D88 Custom with the tach and had the owner not had his Monroney sticker, I'd have called BS.

Yeah, that has to be right up there with the 1967 8 track player in rarity.
