Question on wheels/interchangeability

I have a 1983 delta 88 royale 4 door.

The last owner had gone the route of 24 inch rims but sold those separately before I bought the car last year so my this is how my car sits now.

My uncle has given me 5 original wheels off of a 77 Cutlass (not sure exactly which type of Cutlass).

I'm trying to determine if these would fit my car and wondering if anyone may know?

I'm also wondering if anyone has a list of the color options for 1983 or may know the color of my car just by looking.

I plan to paint the parts of the wheels that require paint the same color as the car if they do in fact fit.

Thanks.

Measure across the lug holes, if they are 4&3/4", your good to go.

You can't measure across the lug holes on a five bolt pattern. The 4.75" dimension is the diameter of a circle that inscribes the lug bolts.

More to the point, the 1980s Deltas could have come from the factory with one of two bolt patterns. Nearly all of them did come with the same 4.75" pattern as the Cutlass and these wheels were even a factory option on the Deltas. Only cars with HD suspension and brakes got the larger 5 x 5" pattern. These are primarily cars with the police or taxi packages. If your Delta has 11" front rotors and 9.5" rear drums, you have the 4.75" pattern. If the Delta has 12" front rotors and 11" rear drums, you have the 5" pattern.

Awesome car!

You can always lift the car with the jack, remove a wheel and test fit one of the SS wheels. If it fits on the lugs then you know you have the 5 x 4.75" bolt pattern.

Here's a good thread on SS wheels and the 8th generation B/C bodies:

A little late on responding here.

Unless you have the Heavy Duty package, which mostly came on diseal cars, you have a 5 x 4.75 bolt pattern. A Cutlass ralley wheel will bolt up no problem. I had a set of ralley's on my Delta at one time

Looks better now with rusty mismatched wheels than it did with 24 inch wheels.... Just my thoughts... Tedd
