Power Window Motor

Hey Old's fans, I need to replace the right/rear power window motor on my 67 Delta and I'm looking for some guidance. Are these still available? If so, where's the best place to get one? Anyone replaced one and have any tips for me on the job?

Take a look at eBay. There are almost always some listed - not cheap!

I'm under the impression that they interchange from all models for several years. Create a parts wanted ad to see who has one close to you. I've got a box full from the late 1960's into early 1970's and expect several others on the site do too. For a good used one you shouldn't have to pay an arm and a leg. John

Thanks, found them on eBay. Seems they specify between driver & passenger side... but not front & rear. I'm wondering if the front & rear motors are the same?

Here's the parts manual page:

Looks like they're the same '54 to '75.

I don't know about the Olds power window motors because I haven't been into them as of yet, but I was able to rebuild the power window motor on my '71 Corvette. Basically what happened was that the brushes were shot. I put in new brushes and away the motor went - just like brand new. It's possible the Olds power window motors can be rebuilt as well. If you don't feel confident about doing it yourself, any "motor" shop should be able to do it (perhaps a business that rebuilds starters or alternators).

Fusick has them rebuilt. They're in their Cutlass catalog (44C), not in their full-size Olds catalog.

http://www.fusick.com/catfile/Catalo...yout%20100.pdf

Check page 34. It says that they are for ALL 1961 to 1977 Oldsmobiles. They should list these in their full-size catalog, but they don't. You can call them to make sure they fit your car, but I would guess they do.

I don't know what prices you're seeing on ebay, etc., and these are $149, but Fusick is about as trustworthy a name as there is in the Olds restoration hobby.

Yeah, the parts manual page I posted was from the ubiquitous 1975 manual, so it only goes up to '75, but they should interchange to at least '77 (maybe later for trucks).

If it tests good (in the car), I'd be interested in it.

>>>Fusick is about as trustworthy a name as there is in the Olds restoration hobby<<<

Good to know... and I like the term "Olds restoration hobby", it sounds important (my wife calls it "spending ton's of money on an old car", lol). Thing's are coming along nicely, though. I thought I had two bad window motors, but after repairing some wiring in the drivers door I got the left/rear working... and also I can now control the right/front from the master switch, which I couldn't before. Fuel gauge now seems to be working from full-empty (although when I fill up it takes a few bumps in the road before the needle goes to full, lol). I figured fuel mileage on my last full tank and was surprised that I got 14.3mpg! (although it was almost all a mellow 200 mile cruise down the coast highway). I've had this car about a 3 years, but haven't really done anything with it. 3 week's and about $1k later (tune-up, fluids, belts, hoses, brakes, master cyl, wheel cyls, wheel brngs, tires, alignment)... I think I have a fairly reliable driver (knock on wood). I'm really enjoying working on something that doesn't have a "check engine" light or require a scanner, for a change, lol. This forum has been very helpful in the short time I've been here... seems like a very helpful group here. Next on the to-do list is the window motor and a heater core.

well, i spoke to soon. it will go down but not up. i sold the other three and all worked like new so i figured this one would to. if you are interested, i have one from a 76 cutlass that tests good. it looks just a little differant but fits and functions the same. i would take $40 shipped for it. i can get you pictures if you are interested. it is still in the car so it may take me a day or two to pull it if you want it.

I called the local "real" auto parts house (not a chain) this morning. They "claim" to have a reman motor in stock for $89 (w/ $20 core). If it turns out to actually be the correct motor, I'll go that way... then I'll have a 12 month warranty on it.
Funny thing is, they're not sure if they can get the heater core or not... I figured it would be the other way around.

rockauto.com has them. $60 if your car has A/C, $65 if not. They're a very reputable site as well with one of the best parts search features I've ever seen.

Hey Mak - while your wife might bemoan you spending "lots of money on an old car", she sure looks like she enjoys it (assuming here that the picture is of your wife)!

Yep, that's my wife, Krissy... going on 25 yrs now. I exaggerate... she's a peach! She loves the Old's (and a my motorcycle's). The kids are grown... we drive our sensible cars during the week and cut loose on the weekends! She's always been great about my "hobbies"... I'm a lucky guy! Here's a pic from our cruise to SF today.

Mak,

I posted this one other place as well just now. If you're still following this or that thread, and if you're still looking for power window motors, or maybe just want to get some spares, here's an ebay auction that might be of interest. Not a bad price if you can get them for his starting price or close to it.
